Matthieu begins his career in football in the South-West of France, in the region of Gironde. He then joins the club LOSC of Lille, in the North of France. There he plays in the First League as an outside right and in 2005 they will be second in the French championship. In 2007 he comes back to Bordeaux and this time the Girondins will be second in the Championship. The season 2008-2009 is marked by success: The Girondins de Bordeaux win the Trophy of the Champions, the Trophy of the Ligue and the French Championship.
For Matthieu, the year 2009 has a taste of red fruit and of particular aromas.
Together with his friend Johan he faces the adventure of viticulture: “La Connivence is a story of a friendship that is completely different to football. Since I came to Bordeaux, Johan and I have become friends and I immediately got into this project, that came up during a pleasant dinner. I enjoy discovering the world of wine from A to Z; from planting the vines, to the harvest, the procedure in the cellar, fermentation and pouring into barrils.”
The world of wine inspires Matthieu right away. According to him it really is a particular craft, that requires diligence and patience. Furthermore the vintner is at the mercy of weather: “The storm passed, it arrives once in ten years, every time when we are Champion of France – just like in 1999.”
